Bridge #E11 permitted crossing beneath the Chenango Branch along the raised embankment created by fill permitting the grade to meet the required height of #E12 to the west across the Erie Canal. This raised grade was midway through a hard curve angling the Chenango Branch from an east-west alignment to a north-south one.
